QASD Foundation holds meeting with Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilisations to discuss Al Andalus cultural projects
The Quality and Sustainable Development Foundation (QASD) recently held a meeting with the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). Held at MoFA headquarters in Doha, the meeting was attended by HE the Secretary-General of the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilisations Ambassador Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Sada, QASD Secretary General Jassim Salem and Fundación Las Fuentes Director Dr Barbara Ruiz Bejarano.
The meeting was held to discuss the cooperation between QASD Foundation and Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilisations. The two entities joined hands for the successful organising of ‘Andalusian Legacy Conference:The Rise and Contemporary Transformations’ that was held in Granada on November 6-8, 2024 in Granada, Spain.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the cooperation in boosting the cultural ties between Spain and the Arab-Muslim world in order to revive the Andalusian legacy and shared thoughts to preserve the legacy of Al Andalus. Also, the collaboration in the proposed Al Andalus Medina Network was discussed. Al Andaus Medina Network is proposed to propagate the idea of Al Andalus Road project by QASD Foundation and as an innovative follow up of Al Andalus Conference. As part of the project, QASD is looking to hold an elaborated version of Al Andalus Heritage Walk where the historical sites of the region will be explored. It offers a unique way to connect with the glorious past of Al Andalus while promoting learning and community engagement with history and culture. Through the heritage walk, QASD is attempting to disseminate the idea of Al Andalus Road to a wider community of scholars, academics, conservationists, politicians, historians, students, cultural activists, influencers and journalists in and outside Qatar.
The meeting also discussed the cooperation to realise the proposed Museum of Islamic Art by Fundación Las Fuentes in the historic city of Cordoba in Spain.
HE the Ambassador Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Sada offered the support for the initiative. Jassem Salem praised the efforts by the committee to strengthen the cultural ties of Qatar with its allies.
